| LAS VEGAS -- The Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook has unveiled a SuperContest Satellite Series that gives bettors from all reaches of the U.S. a chance at free entry into the most prestigious sports handicapping contest in the world. Beginning March 2, you are invited to download the Gamblino app and ready yourself for the NCAA Tournament, where you can apply your handicapping and money management skills to compete against fellow sports bettors. The winner of the satellite event earns a seat at the 2015 SuperContest, which is worth $1,500. The winner also gains immediate respect among the national sports betting community. The "March to the Championship" SuperContest Satellite – tied to the NCAA Tournament – is the first of four. So a total of four SuperContest entries are up for grabs. There will also be Satellite contests for the NBA playoffs, NHL playoffs and the first half of baseball season. Winners also get a two-night stay at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook & Resort during the 2015 SuperContest Weekend. Last season's SuperContest winner, CH Ballers, took home a record $736,575, and a total of $2.1 million in prize money was given away to the top 35 finishers, who proved to be the most consistent at picking five pro football games a week against the spread. "We've seen a tremendous growth in the SuperContest over the past few years because more people from across the country are realizing they can enter the contest and don't have to live in Nevada," SuperBook vice-president Jay Kornegay said. "Between social media and publicity through national media, that word has been spread to the masses. "For us to take that next step and get a SuperContest winner regularly paid out at over $1 million each year, we needed to take other measures in getting more exposure, and that's how the SuperContest Satellite Series came about. If we can keep the SuperContest name out there through the spring and summer months, we should be able to set a record number of entries (again) this year." Growth of the SuperContest has been spurred by ESPN's Chad Millman and Bill Simmons regularly discussing their weekly selections. Sports bettors all over the country have started to realize they can use a proxy service to turn in their picks and that they need to make just one trip to sign up. Now with the launch of the Satellite Series, you can sign up on your phone. This is the first time the SuperContest is offering satellite events. Poker players, though, are familiar with the concept, since the World Series of Poker has satellite events all over the world – win one of these satellite tournaments and gain a seat at the world's most prestigious poker tournament. Here's how the SuperContest Satellite Series works … You are given a bankroll of 10,000 points to be played like dollars, and it's up to each contestant to pick winners and manage his or her bankroll with the goal of showing the most profit at the end of each of the four events. For "March to the Championship," whoever has the highest point total following the championship game on April 7 will be awarded a free 2015 SuperContest entry. The winners have to show up at the 2015 SuperContest Weekend to claim the prize, and your two-night stay at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook & Resort will be comped.
