Action Report – Seahawks Backers Waiting On '3'

@TheLinemakers

LAS VEGAS -- After a whirlwind of action following the NFC championship game that saw Denver bet from a 2-point underdog to a 2.5-point favorite, Super Bowl line movement has come to a standstill over the past seven days in Las Vegas. The total has dropped from 48 to 47 at nearly every sports book, and while there's been little movement on the point spread, the most interesting thing to happen on the side over the past four days has been Coast Resorts moving the juice on the Broncos to -2.5 (-115). Not very exciting, right?

However, MGM Resorts sports book hub manager Jeff Stoneback isn’t worried about the lack of action and still feels his properties and the state will set an all-time record for Super Bowl handle.

"We’ve seen less than five percent of the entire action we’ll see on the Super Bowl," said Stoneback, "and right now if you’re looking to play Seattle, there is no reason to – things can’t get much worse on their line and there is the possibility that by waiting bettors can get +3."

Because Seattle backers have been applying that logic and waiting, it’s been mostly Denver action so far.

“Since we’ve gone to -2.5, we have one-and-a-half times actual cash wagered on Denver over Seattle, and the ticket counts are at 2-to-1.”

Stoneback is optimistic the Nevada Super Bowl handle record of $98.9 million set last year will be broken.

“I just think this is a great matchup between a great defense and great offense that will get people motivated to wager on it," he said. "We haven’t even taken any large bets yet, but as the weekend approaches and time starts to run out, we’ll see plenty of them.”

We’ll keep you updated on any line movement in Las Vegas regarding the Super Bowl leading up to kickoff. The big question right now is when, if ever, the Broncos will get to -3. Stoneback says they’re still a long way off from even going to -2.5 (-120).
