Clippers continue tough trip at hot Cavs

@TheLinemakers

The Clippers are in the middle of a tough eight-game road trip, and things don't get any easier with a game at the Cavaliers on Thursday night. This is the first half of a nationally-televised doubleheader (8 p.m. ET, TNT), followed by the Suns at Trail Blazers (10:30 p.m. ET, TNT).

Line: Cleveland -4.5, Total: 207

The Clippers (33-16 SU, 20-29 ATS) are 2-2 SU and 1-3 ATS on this trip, most recently a 102-100 loss to Brooklyn on Monday as 8.5-point favorites. The final score fell just below the 202.5-point total, with the UNDER 5-1 in Los Angeles' last six games.

Guard J.J. Redick played just four minutes last game due to back spasms and is out indefinitely. Jamal Crawford is expected to move into the starting lineup, which really hurts the bench scoring. Recent addition, Austin Rivers is averaging 9.5 PPG on this trip, and the coach's son will get more minutes now.

The Cavaliers (30-20 SU, 23-27 ATS) are the NBA's hottest team with 11-straight wins after the Hawks saw their 19-game streak end at New Orleans on Monday. One of those Cleveland victories came at the Clippers on January 16, 126-121 as 8.5-point road dogs, despite Kevin Love being injured and playing the second half of a back-to-back.

Cleveland is 9-2 ATS during its winning streak, failing to cover in its last game on Monday, a 97-84 home win over Philadelphia as 17-point favorites. It was a case of playing down to an opponent, as it was only a three-point game (86-83) with under four minutes remaining.

The UNDER is 6-0 in Cleveland's last six games, scoring 102.3 PPG and allowing 91.8 PPG. The Cavs, in fact, have been the best UNDER bet in the league, with a 33-16-1 record to the UNDER on the season.

Both of these teams are playing on two days' rest. The Clippers are 7-1 SU and 6-2 ATS in that situation this year, while the Cavaliers are 6-0 SU and 4-2 ATS.

The Linemakers' lean: The line has been bet up from Cleveland - 3, which was way too cheap a price for the Cavs her. We're still willing to lay -4.5 in what may be a preview of the NBA Finals. Cavs are the play.
