Vegas can't wait for Tiger to play again

Tiger Woods' odds to win the 2015 Masters have been raised to 50-to-1 at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook, and if last week was any indication, public bettors will want some of that action.

The oddsmakers at the Westgate tantalized bettors last week with what appeared to be attractive odds on Woods, and the public bit. Woods' first-round withdrawal from the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines, therefore, was a win for the sports book.

The Westgate offered a prop on whether Tiger would make the cut, opening the 'yes' side of the bet at -140 and adjusting to -150 after taking lots of public wagers on it. More significantly, Woods' odds to win the tournament were adjusted from 50-to-1 to 40-to-1.

"There were so many tickets written on Tiger Woods last week, it was like the craziest thing I've ever seen," SuperBook manager Ed Salmons told The Linemakers on Sporting News on Monday.

"We had massive liability on (Woods winning the tournament)," he added. "It was amazing how the public was running to bet Tiger to win last week. ... We were going to lose definitely six figures on that."

The 'will Woods make the cut' prop drew solid two-way action, according to Salmons.

"It was the public vs. the wiseguys," he said. "I never would have thought we would have written that much money on that. I can't wait for him to play again."

As for Woods' long odds to win Masters, Salmons said, "I'm sure people will talk themselves into, 'he can win the Masters' by then."
