The Sweet 16 begins tonight with four games on the betting card. Here are leans from The Linemakers on Sporting News. We're sure you'll notice a theme.
Wichita State (-2, 138) vs. Notre Dame, 7:15 p.m. ET, CBS
We don't have a play on the side unless we can get Notre Dame +3.5. The lean comes on the total. With such a great offense, the perception may be that the Irish are up-tempo. The opposite is actually true, and combined with the defense and slow pace of Wichita State, we lean to the UNDER.
North Carolina vs. Wisconsin (-6.5, 145), 7:45 p.m. ET, TBS
We like Wisconsin to get the win, but we're not comfortable laying -6.5 when our power ratings suggest the line should be closer to -2. Instead, we're looking at the total and expect the Badgers to control the pace. They rank 346th out of 351 college basketball teams in terms of possessions per game. We're on the UNDER, and there's even more value on the bet with early money pushing the total upward. UNDER is the play.
West Virginia vs. Kentucky (-13, 136.5), 9:45 p.m. ET, CBS
While Kentucky has not covered yet in the Tournament, the Wildcats might just be too talented for West Virginia. Still, we'll pass on laying the inflated number, but due to WVU's struggles in the half-court and the outstanding defense of Kentucky, the lean is on the UNDER.
Xavier vs. Arizona (-11, 136), 10:17 p.m. ET, CBS
Arizona is on a 15-4 run against the spread, so you can almost bet the Wildcats blindly and be comfortable that you're going to cash. The spread here is inflated by about 3.5 points, but we're willing to keep riding Arizona and lay the points. Also, both teams are on recent UNDER runs, and this total feels high. Arizona -11 and UNDER 136 are the plays.
