Betting market doubts Tiger at British Open

@TheLinemakers

Despite the confidence he's proclaimed this week, Tiger Woods saw his British Open odds lengthened from 25-to-1 to 30-to-1 at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook since Monday. Woods is also priced as the underdog in three head-to-head matchup props available for wagering at the SuperBook.

In fact, the odds posted on Woods in a head-to-head prop vs. Jason Day is the longest number on the entire tournament matchup board. Day is -190 vs. Woods, who is offered at +170 odds to finish ahead of the vertigo-stricken Aussie. Also, Woods is +140 vs. Phil Mickelson, with Lefty laying -160, and Martin Kaymer is priced at -155 vs. Woods (+135).

While Tiger is expected to at least make the cut, with odds of 5-to-9 (-180) to be playing this weekend, his OVER/UNDER finishing position is 40.5, and he is a +170 dog to finish in the top 20.

Woods – who has won two British Opens at St. Andrews, site of this year's tournament– tees off at 4:55 a.m. ET on Thursday morning.

Jordan Spieth, of course, remains the clear favorite to win the Open Championship, listed at 5-to-1 odds. Dustin Johnson is the second betting choice at 12-to-1. The top two tournament favorites are matched up in a head-to-head prop, with Spieth listed as the -140 chalk to finish ahead of Johnson, who is offered at +120.

A few of the other props that will garner some attention from gamblers (there's a full list below):

-- OVER/UNDER winning score: 275.5. With par at St. Andrews set at 72, that's 12.5-under par. For what it's worth, four of the last five Open Championships at St. Andrews have been won with a score of 14-under or better. Woods is responsible for two of those, shooting 14-under in 2005 and 19-under in 2000. John Daly, with a 6-under in 1995, is the exception.

-- Will there be a hole in one? Always one of the more popular props bets in golf. Yes is the +220 dog, with No the -260 fave.

--The OVER/UNDER for the lowest completed round by any golfer is 65.
